Chapter 8

Hello World!

May 31

On this beautiful Memorial Day, I headed out with camera in tow. As soon as I had my 300mm lens in focus, up popped a hawk chick! Hello World! Hello World!

When I later examined my sequence of photos, I could see yellowish-tan through the sticks in the lower left part of the nest. Some of the photos revealed blue sky in this same spot. So I’m pretty sure the nest holds at least two chicks. When Henrietta spotted me with the camera, she flew to the nest and stood in her favorite hiding place. It’s almost impossible to see her from the ground without binoculars. Crafty Mama Hawk. My Chick!
